About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and perform daily field crew operations for land surveying projects, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction stakeouts
- Operate, maintain, and care for survey equipment, data collection tools, and other geodetic and reality capture equipment
- Transfer files between data collection systems and internal company project folders
- Perform quality checks and process field data, including downloading, maintaining, and verifying project data and reports while managing the database
- Maintain professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
- Train field team members on the operation of survey equipment, including total station, GPS, levels, and data collectors used for field survey data collection
- Perform pre-field staking calculations and prepare as-staked cutsheets and deliverables as needed
- Operate a company vehicle in support of field activities
- Follow safety and security procedures at all times
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associates degree, or certificate, in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering preferred
- 4 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the construction industry preferred
- Advanced knowledge of surveying fundamentals and procedures recognized in the region work is being performed
- Knowledge of modern survey equipment, devices, and methods
- Experience with Trimble, Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors and GPS preferred
- Problem solving techniques
- Knowledge of jurisdictional and industry requirements
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment
- Possesses oral and written communication skills
- Ability to professionally represent IMEG
- RPLS/SI preferred but not required
- Ability to collect field data in an organized, neat and professional manner for boundary, topographic, design and construction stakeout projects.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
- Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
