About the role

  • Lead design efforts for electrical systems analysis, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong relationships
  • Manage project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
  • Document design decisions and monitor project progress relative to budget and percent complete
  • Analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants
  • Conduct in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering
  • Prioritize safety and identify potential risks in all engineering work
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Identify project issues and seek guidance from the Project Manager
  • Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; energy code compliance and software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, Building Information Model software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools
  • Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
