About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the lifecycle of physical servers, network devices, and other IT infrastructure components
- Perform installation, configuration, and upkeep of server and network components in data centers
- Plan and implement rack layouts, cabling schemes, and patching schedules
- Diagnose hardware issues and coordinate vendor repairs or replacements through the RMA process
- Handle shipments, maintain hardware inventory, and manage IT component stock levels
- Develop and maintain documentation of physical infrastructure, cabling layouts, rack configurations, and processes
- Build working relationships with hardware vendors, colocation partners, and remote hands teams
- Maintain office IT infrastructure, including hardware and network systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center engineering
- Strong understanding of server hardware, network devices, and data storage systems
- Knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceivers
- Experience with fiber optic testing and cleaning is required
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking protocols
- Proven experience in racking, cabling, and data center facilities management tools, including power and cooling
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
- Valid driver’s license required for travel between facilities
- CCNA certification is a plus
- Familiarity with basic Bash and Python scripting in a Linux environment is a plus
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, adapt to changing requirements, and work independently or collaboratively
