Key responsibilities & impact

Provide coding and abstracting services for clients on physician medical records using ICD 10-CM, CPS, and CPT coding systems
Participate in industry forums and support coding education within the team
Reviews medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures relative to the patient's health care encounter
Ensures appropriate DRG assignment
Responsible for utilizing applications to enter charts coded in real-time throughout the scheduled shift
Solicit clarification from the physician regarding ambiguous or conflicting documentation
Maintain current knowledge of the information contained in the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
Responsible for keeping coding credentials up to date and active

What you’ll need

3 years of related coding experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to code Clinic E&M and CPT with modifiers.
Experience coding Profee Ophthalmology charts
Epic with 3M, 360 experience required
Understands medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes
Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPS and CPT coding principles and guidelines
Must pass a coding proficiency test
