About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable, secure, compliant, and reliable cloud infrastructure across distributed and hybrid architectures
  • Plan and execute migration of data, IT infrastructure, and applications from on premises to cloud environments
  • Develop and manage data protection, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Support continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and configuration management
  • Evaluate and integrate AI/ML services into cloud architectures
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and management using Infrastructure as Code practices
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps, cybersecurity, architects, network engineers, data scientists, and AI engineers
  • Provide technical cloud guidance to developers and IT staff
  • Monitor performance, reliability, and health; troubleshoot issues and minimize downtime
  • Manage and optimize cloud resources for cost-efficiency, performance, and availability
  • Ensure compliance with cloud security standards and regulations
  • Maintain infrastructure, configuration, procedure, and policy documentation
  • Apply emerging cloud technologies and best practices to improve the environment
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide critical infrastructure support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or related field and at least 5 years of direct professional experience, or high school diploma/equivalent and at least 11 years of direct/professional experience in lieu of education
  • Level 4: Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 9 years of direct professional experience, or high school diploma/equivalent and at least 15 years of direct/professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions and cloud infrastructure
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “L” clearance
  • US Citizenship required
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and security components
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Ansible and Terraform
  • Knowledge of Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • AI/LLM experience
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert preferred
  • Ability to work more than 8 hours per day, alone, and irregular hours as needed
  • Ability to meet stated physical requirements, including standing, walking, sitting, bending, keyboarding, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds with assistance
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must have registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment
