About the role
- Act as primary on-site representative for transmission overhead line projects
- Plan and deliver new build, replacement, refurbishment or associated major transmission overhead line construction projects
- Provide on-site ownership, technical support and advice primarily relating to overhead line construction stages
- Monitor and manage contractors' programmes proactively in line with overall project programme
- Manage contract aspects including variations and claims
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, quality assurance and environmental processes
- Monitor agreed mitigation and site environmental legislation compliance
- Oversee construction and commissioning activities (access development, foundations, tower/wood pole erection, wiring, re-insulation, re-spacering, re-conductoring, painting, reinstatement)
- Coordinate multi-disciplined teams and stakeholders on site
Requirements
- Significant experience in managing transmission construction projects
- Experience as a Manager delivering the Principal Contractor role and managing multiple contractors
- Contract management experience (variations and claims etc)
- Knowledge of specifications, designs, maintenance, construction and commissioning of overhead lines
- Experience monitoring and inspecting construction activities: access development, foundation installation, assembly and erection (wood pole and/or towers), wiring, re-insulation, re-spacering, re-conductoring, tower painting and reinstatement works
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and understanding of CDM 2015 regs and duty holder roles
- Ability to implement quality assurance and environmental processes and ensure site environmental compliance
- Proficient with IT and software packages such as Microsoft Office
- First Aid certification
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills; experience leading teams in a contractor environment
