About the role
- Take engineering ownership for tires and wheels across European vehicle programs from concept through SOP and beyond
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to ensure design compatibility and clearly define targets
- Prepare concept designs and drive system and component development to meet agreed targets
- Prepare EO/ECR documentation and release drawings in close cooperation with suppliers
- Coordinate with manufacturing plants, Quality and Purchasing to ensure production readiness and compliance with quality requirements
- Scout and develop new technologies in collaboration with suppliers and via industry conferences
- Propose improvements to existing components and expand and enhance development standards
- Work closely with the R&D Center in Namyang (South Korea)
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the automotive industry, ideally with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
- Excellent understanding of tire and wheel technologies and associated OEM R&D processes
- Knowledge of tire testing methods, including NVH, durability and performance evaluations
- Hands-on experience collaborating with tire suppliers and managing projects
- Ability to define and analyze tire performance targets, specifications and validation plans
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot tire performance issues
- Excellent communication skills; able to prepare technical reports, proposals and presentations in English
- Preferred: experience with advanced tire technologies (e.g. low-rolling resistance, smart tires)
- Willingness to travel (including medium/long-term assignments to Korea); valid EU driving license (Category B)
- Software: CATIA V5 / PLM / BOM
