About the role
- Responsible engineer for exterior trim parts for future vehicles
- Engineering responsibility for exterior trim parts (such as bumpers, wheel arches, spoilers, rocker/pillar covers, tailgate trims, etc.) covering development from first concept through Start of Production (SOP) and throughout product life cycles
- Drive optimizations in cost, weight, performance, design, materials, customer usage, assembly, and part quality
- Participate in production plant trials (Korea & EU) to inspect tooling and part development, and resolve quality and assembly issues
- Analyze the EU market, including competitors, and provide body recommendations considering cost, weight, and performance
- Monitor European body innovations via a network of industry experts, suppliers, conferences, start-ups, and institute visits, and evaluate solutions for cost, weight, and performance to inform Hyundai management
- Continuously report development progress to EU and Korean management as well as to the production plants
Requirements
- Proven experience as a body part engineer at an automotive OEM (preferred) or a major Tier 1 supplier, covering work from initial design reviews through Start of Production
- Education: Degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of professional body development experience at an OEM or key supplier; deep knowledge of automotive requirements and R&D processes
- Experience in serial part development, including design reviews, decision meetings, quality reviews, and status reporting
- Strong market knowledge of body technologies related to materials, processes, supply chains, and OEM requirements
- Proactive and innovative mindset with a strategic, organized, but flexible working style
- Analytical thinker with clear, results-oriented communication and strong deadline-driven performance
- Solid proficiency with MS Office, CATIA V5, and drawing release/BOM software; role is engineering-focused rather than CAD modeling
- Willingness to travel frequently
- Good command of English, both spoken and written
- Holder of a valid European driving license (category B)
