About the role

  • Modelling expenses and revenues to help forecast the company's P&L and cash-in-bank on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Analysing business data to provide feedback on operational performance, optimising costs and planning revenue growth.
  • Identifying areas of improvement to make financial reporting more useful and actionable for strategy-setting.
  • Preparing regular operational cash flow forecasts
  • Drafting the financial information for R&D tax credit submissions
  • Analyse and review data submissions to local and national authorities
  • Monitoring KPIs to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Establish benchmarks for financial processes
  • Analyse processes to identify gaps that can improve profit margins
  • Support in preparing for and meeting statutory, regulatory and investor reporting requirements.
  • Supporting the annual financial audit and preparing the annual accounts
  • Submitting annual returns for UK and SA companies
  • Preparing Company tax computations
  • Conducting internal audit reviews and risk analyses
  • Researching finance and statutory requirements in new markets
  • Studying industry-specific business trends and research data
  • Assisting with due diligence for investment and/or M&A activities
  • Explore investment opportunities

Requirements

  • **Minimum Requirements:**
  • - CA/ACCA qualification
  • - At least 4 years of financial reporting experience
  • - Experience and understanding of UK tax requirements
  • - Experience and understanding of applicable financial standards, regulations and compliance requirements
  • - Exceptional attention to detail
  • - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • - High level of planning and organisation skills
  • - Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
  • - Extensive experience creating and maintaining financial models
  • - Proven knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, and information analysis.
  • ****Preferred:**
  • - Experience using Xero or an equivalent accounting system
  • - Exposure to US accounting and tax practices
  • - Experience in carrying out due diligence and M&A activities
  • - At least 2 years of experience managing a team
  • - Prior experience in the tech or education industries.
