About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and evolve the platform
- Design, develop and maintain backend services in PHP/Symfony
- Contribute to the evolution of the payment platform and the integration of new features
- Maintain and improve the quality and readability of the existing codebase
- Design and maintain robust, scalable APIs
- Contribute to technical architecture and technology decisions
- Optimize the performance and stability of services
- Implement and maintain unit and integration tests
- Analyze and resolve production incidents
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices
- Apply security best practices related to payment systems
- Help maintain infrastructure that complies with industry standards
- Use AI-assisted development tools to optimize development workflows
- Participate in integrating these tools into the engineering team’s practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Significant experience in PHP development (minimum 5 years)
- Proficiency with a modern MVC framework, ideally Symfony
- Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Strong foundations in software architecture and object-oriented programming
- Solid knowledge of MySQL and complex SQL queries
- Experience with Git and modern development workflows
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools, notably Claude Code
- Experience with Docker
- Good professional command of English
- Experience in the payments industry or financial services (PSP)
