About the role
- Client Commitment: Quarterback all client financial deliverables and effectively manage project timelines, holding team members accountable to deadlines
- Confident, credible presenter during client engagements; can own the room independently when needed
- Established as the client’s Trusted Advisor for financial consulting across the full spectrum of EB needs – budgets, renewals, stop loss, plan design, contributions, and more
- Collaborates with internal client teams in preparation for client meetings and all financial deliverables
- Supports client development by assisting with RFP responses and participating in prospect finalist meetings
- Strategy: Understands the big picture of client goals and leads strategy conversations; defines client objectives and knows how to measure success
- Applies innovative and leading-edge financial thinking to develop solutions for clients; challenges conventional approaches
- Explains industry and market trends shaping current and future client objectives
- Actively participates in developing new revenue streams through research, model-building, and/or owning a strategic vendor or product relationship
- Leadership & People Management: Ability to lead staff within the practice area; may have 1–4 direct reports and is accountable for their development, performance, and career growth
- Actively mentors junior colleagues; fosters a culture of high-quality work, accountability, and professional growth
- Contributes ideas to improve client retention and revenue growth goals; actively participates in EB project efficiency and standardization initiatives
- Appropriately challenges internal teams to deliver best-in-class products to clients, innovate, and lead in the market
- Represents HUB to prospective clients and employees; participates in external webinars and/or contributes to white papers or thought leadership for external use
- Brings new point solutions or strategic vendors to the actuarial group and becomes a practice ‘expert’ in the relevant area, or takes ownership of an existing strategic relationship
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Active Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) required
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and able to sign actuarial reserves
- 10+ years of relevant experience, with extensive history in employee benefits consulting
- Experience with mid-market and upper mid-market clients preferred
- Knowledge of various US markets and exposure to diverse industries preferred
- Experience with self-funded clients; comfortable projecting budgets, setting reserves, and negotiating renewals
- Demonstrated ability to lead client teams, manage staff, and mentor junior colleagues
- Strong communication skills; ability to present with confidence to executive-level client stakeholders
- Proficiency with Excel, VBA, Power Query, Power BI, SQL, and/or other technical platforms
- Obtain Life & Health Insurance license within first 3 months of employment with HUB (if not already held)
