About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead customers in the strategic application of Honeycomb and observability practices to meet technical and business goals
- Shape how customers’ telemetry data is structured, governed, and used across their organizations
- Partner with Customer Success Managers and Account Executives to articulate Honeycomb’s value proposition, vision, and strategy
- Advise customers on telemetry schema design and data modeling
- Become a subject-matter expert in Sampling and Honeycomb Refinery sampling operations
- Teach, coach, and mentor engineering teams and leaders in observability, SRE concepts, and instrumentation best practices
- Advise customers on telemetry ownership, standards, documentation, naming conventions, and attribution practices
- Troubleshoot and develop technical and sociotechnical solutions to customer issues
- Create reusable trainings, talks, blog posts, white papers, demos, and reference architectures
- Represent the customer voice in internal Engineering and Product Management meetings
- Stay current on Honeycomb technologies, products, and the observability ecosystem
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep understanding of OpenTelemetry, its projects, components, SDKs, and ecosystem
- Strong understanding of telemetry data modeling, event schemas, cardinality, and long-term queryability
- Ability to understand application architecture and flow for effective instrumentation
- Working knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Working knowledge of Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm
- Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms and practices, including CircleCI and GitHub Actions
- Previous experience in Software Development or System Operations
- Strong preference for experience with distributed systems at scale
- Fluency in at least one of Ruby, Python, Go, JavaScript, Java, or .NET
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills, tailored to engineering teams and technical leadership
- Ability to work in the United States
- Honeycomb cannot currently sponsor or support visa transfers
