Drainage Project Engineer – Team Lead
HNTBDrainage Project Engineer responsible for design and management of drainage solutions for transportation projects. Leading teams in developing high-quality deliverables while adhering to timelines and budgets.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects
- Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation
- Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline
- Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline
- Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives
- Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline
- Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
- Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession
- Coordinates schedules and approves timecards
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
- Performs drainage design for transportation projects, including stormwater management facility, floodplain compensation site, storm drain, ditch, culvert, bridge hydraulics, and scour analysis
- Works in OpenRoads Designer and AutoCAD Civil 3D production platforms, and use of a variety of technical design software packages (StormWise, HEC-RAS, OpenRoads Designer Drainage)
- Prepares construction and permitting documents, including reports, plans, and specifications
- Leads and manages drainage related tasks and provide leadership and mentoring to project teams
- Participates in project pursuits including presentations, interviews, and technical proposals
- Develops scope of services and staff hour estimation for drainage tasks
- Performs quality control review of deliverables
- Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines
