About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects
Consults with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery
Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for complex and cross-discipline projects
Leverages technical knowledge and experience to address design related issues or concerns
Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project completion
Will mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated technical leadership on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) or high-performance bus projects
Ability to serve as Lead Engineer or Technical Manager for BRT projects
Proven experience integrating BRT operational requirements into engineering design
Experience designing within urban, constrained right-of-way corridors where transit performance is a primary design driver
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve BRT-specific technical tradeoffs
Experience leading multidisciplinary coordination for BRT corridors
Advanced knowledge of ADA requirements as applied to BRT stations and passenger facilities
Proven experience presenting and defending BRT engineering decisions to transit agencies DOTs and municipalities
