About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects
  • Consults with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery
  • Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for complex and cross-discipline projects
  • Leverages technical knowledge and experience to address design related issues or concerns
  • Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project completion
  • Will mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) or high-performance bus projects
  • Ability to serve as Lead Engineer or Technical Manager for BRT projects
  • Proven experience integrating BRT operational requirements into engineering design
  • Experience designing within urban, constrained right-of-way corridors where transit performance is a primary design driver
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve BRT-specific technical tradeoffs
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary coordination for BRT corridors
  • Advanced knowledge of ADA requirements as applied to BRT stations and passenger facilities
  • Proven experience presenting and defending BRT engineering decisions to transit agencies DOTs and municipalities
