Key responsibilities & impact- Research, evaluate, and recommend technical solutions for business challenges
- Design, engineer, deploy, and document technical solutions in production
- Transition new systems into steady-state operations through documentation and training for operational IT staff
- Lead technical projects and sub-projects across the department
- Serve as a subject matter expert and internal consultant on infrastructure best practices
- Act as the top-level escalation point for complex issues
- Own escalated support incidents and coordinate with external vendors and consultants
- Produce root cause analysis reports
- Triage and prioritize tasks, projects, and issues
- Work outside normal business hours, including evenings, nights, or weekends, as needed
- Implement and maintain monitoring for mission-critical systems
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives, including documented plans and annual DR testing
- Collaborate with other teams and business stakeholders on recovery priorities and continuity strategies
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent technical knowledge
- 7+ years of related experience in IT operations, support, or infrastructure
- Strong proficiency in core back-end technologies
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Windows Server
- Hands-on expertise with blade server hardware, such as HPE Synergy chassis
- Hands-on expertise with virtualization platforms, especially VMware
- Hands-on expertise with hyper-converged infrastructure
- Hands-on expertise with enterprise SAN and NAS storage systems, including Pure Storage and NetApp
- Thorough command of industry terminology
- Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments using initiative and sound judgment
- Ability to work under pressure and complete assignments accurately and professionally
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise and cloud backup software and strategies
- Ability to protect firm data and ensure recoverability
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. above waist level as needed
- Valid U.S. driver's license required for occasional travel between offices or data centers
- Expert understanding of health and status monitoring for mission-critical systems
- Familiarity with AIOps monitoring tools is a plus
- Self-driven mindset and ability to find innovative, efficient solutions
- Ability to support BC/DR guidelines, maintain documented plans, and participate in annual DR testing
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Group Policy, and Windows Registry
- Expert proficiency with VMware vSphere/ESXi, clustering features such as DRS/HA, and VM clones/templates
- Ability to develop PowerShell or Python scripts
- Ability to use infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Expert proficiency in SAN and NAS network and storage design and maintenance
- Practical experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services
- Ability to assist with vulnerability remediation, system hardening, security audits, and assessments
- Knowledge of security best practices and frameworks such as CIS benchmarks and NIST
- Ability to architect, execute, and maintain BC/DR plans with defined RPOs and RTOs
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing needs, and communicate across the organization
- Must remain calm and analytical in high-pressure situations
- Appropriate industry certifications preferred
- Microsoft Office proficiency preferred
- Experience with AWS or GCP is a plus
- Law firm or professional services experience highly desirable
