About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Commercial Sales Markets operational compliance, business performance, and strategic positioning regarding BCBSA, BCBS Plans, and CHP policies and initiatives
- Serve as Highmark’s designated National Account Executive to the BCBSA and ambassador with BCBSA, BCBS Plans, and CHP
- Support Commercial Sales Markets teams and maximize synergy with Finance, Sales Ops, Legal, Product Strategy, Customer Alignment, Provider, Actuary, HM Health Solutions, Health Plan Operations, Government Affairs, and Advanced Analytics
- Collaborate with management and staff to propose Blue solutions and consistent messaging
- Act as subject matter expert and trusted advisor on national delivery of Blue commercial group business
- Manage cede negotiations and BCBSA Inter-Plan Program Policies related to ceding for Pennsylvania and National Sales Markets
- Manage BCBSA and CHP financial policies for reimbursement of InterPlan fees
- Serve as SME witness in national and local court cases and support legal preparation
- Maintain relationships among BCBS Plan colleagues to manage membership retention and common sales strategies for Host BlueCard enrollment
- Review and recommend changes to Inter-Plan Programs Policies affecting BlueCard fees, ceding, and network issues
- Manage strategic initiative projects, including shared savings expertise, training, CHP pricing strategies, and competitive financial levers
- Support the Senior Vice President, National Markets and National Markets management team
- Represent Highmark on BCBSA and CHP workgroups
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's in Business Administration or Health Care Management, or 6 years progressive experience in interplan/consultative/cede experience in lieu of Bachelor degree
- 5 years of BCBSA Inter-Plan Programs and Policies relating to the national delivery of commercial group business
- 3 years of experience in a consultative role interfacing and collaborating with BCBSA and BCBS Plans at all levels of management and staff
- 3 years of experience in a project management role emphasizing strategic initiative implementation and/or negotiating or defending administrative agreements
- Excellent time management and project management skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Superior institutional knowledge of BCBSA Inter-Plan Programs and Policies and the structure of BCBSA
- Negotiation experience and understanding of legal terminology
- Superior relationships with BCBSA and BCBS Plan staff
- Strong relationships within the BCBS system and at other Blue Plans
- Knowledge of the value and activity of Consortium Health Plans
- Networking skills to develop trust and loyalty among Blue colleagues
- No licenses or certifications required
- No language other than English required
