About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Facilitate diagnostic and emergency care for patients in outpatient and acute inpatient settings
- Order and interpret laboratory, radiological, and specialized diagnostic studies
- Institute emergency measures and stabilization techniques for acute patient situations
- Communicate significant patient status changes and critical findings to attending physicians or covering providers
- Prepare and electronically prescribe medications; administer medications and injections
- Perform minor bedside surgical procedures and complex specialty-specific procedures
- Coordinate complex care with patients, families, community services, and interdisciplinary teams
- Provide specialized critical-care and inpatient care
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical-record documentation
- Educate patients and families on prevention, medications, and treatment instructions
- Coordinate continuity of care from outpatient visits through inpatient admission and post-discharge follow-up
- Conduct daily inpatient hospital rounds, document patient progress and care plans, and triage clinic calls
- Participate in continuing education and quality-improvement initiatives
- Assist with surgical, interventional radiology, or fluoroscopic procedures under supervision
- Contribute to education of trainees and professional staff
- Perform other assigned duties and specialty-specific procedures under applicable privileging and job agreements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Physician Assistant path: Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies
- Current PA Physician Assistant License
- PA-C or board eligible
- Nurse Practitioner path: MSN from a practicing State Board of Nursing-approved master's program
- National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through AANP, ANCC, NCC, or PNCB
- Practicing-state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
- Prescriptive authority from the practicing state
- Drug Enforcement Agency licensure within 60 days of hire
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Ongoing successful recertification (NCCPA) as a PA-C within 90 days of hire
- Four to ten years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred: 1 year of Physician Assistant experience in a specialty or procedure-based setting
- Preferred: experience in an emergency or critical-care setting
- Rotational coverage may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties, sometimes within a 24/7 coverage model
- Compliance with HIPAA, data-security guidelines, the Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and training requirements
