About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide continuous observation and surveillance of multiple patients across the AHN network via a central command center
- Maintain visual observation at all times using patient monitoring software
- Recognize potentially harmful behaviors and verbally redirect patients through digital audio devices
- Communicate patient needs to nursing staff
- Provide shift-to-shift handoff of pertinent information and behaviors
- Alert floor staff when patients may pose a threat to themselves or others
- Collaborate on identifying and reporting patient safety issues
- Identify safety hazards and communicate them to hospital staff for immediate intervention
- Explain information to patients as necessary while maintaining dignity and privacy
- Follow safe work practices and participate in organizational and department safety programs
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school / GED
- 1 year of previous patient care experience
- Capable of continuous monitoring of multiple patients at one time
- Proficient computer skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgement
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and patient confidentiality
- Ability to use de-escalation techniques
- Ability to communicate verbally, calmly and courteously in stressful situations
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Must comply with HIPAA, data security guidelines, the company’s Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and training requirements
