About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide patient care for facility clients according to standards and guidelines
Respond to telephone calls and triage appropriately
Provide patient reassurance, teaching, and direction
Ensure efficient healthcare service delivery during patient visits
Complete, update, and maintain accurate medical records
Initiate patient contact and prepare patients for examinations
Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
Observe and report abnormal patient signs and symptoms to physicians
Ensure patient understanding of physician instructions upon discharge
Document medical record entries and charge information in the electronic medical record for billing
Assist physicians with testing, treatment procedures, splints, dressings, minor surgeries, and physicals
Perform physician orders, laboratory tests, treatments, patient testing, and admissions as prescribed
Obtain referrals and consents, retrieve test results, and notify patients
Assist with medications, medication logs, patient instruction, and education materials
Stock and maintain patient-care areas, examination rooms, equipment, supplies, and educational materials
Keep examination rooms clean, organized, and compliant with cleaning protocols
Ensure instruments are sterile and equipment is operational
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or accredited Nursing Program, or certification/registration as a Medical Assistant
Those hired prior to 2018 are grandfathered from educational and/or certification requirements
Ability to provide patient care according to applicable standards and guidelines
Ability to triage telephone calls appropriately
Ability to obtain vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
Ability to use electronic medical records for documentation and billing
Ability to assist physicians with testing, treatments, minor surgeries, physicals, splints, and dressings
Ability to perform laboratory tests and treatments as prescribed
Ability to maintain laboratory logs, sterile instruments, stocked supplies, and clean examination rooms
