About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Copy-edit and proofread editorial content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, clarity, consistency, and adherence to established style guidelines
- Review copy efficiently and accurately while managing tight editorial deadlines
- Collaborate with editors, writers, and fact-checkers to review edits, resolve questions, and maintain the integrity of each story
- Check contract proofs carefully and make corrections or updates as needed
- Identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve readability
- Manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities while maintaining a high standard of editorial quality
- Communicate edits and editorial recommendations clearly and constructively with cross-functional partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous professional copy-editing, proofreading, or related editorial experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong command of editorial standards
- Deep knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage, with the ability to apply editorial style guidelines consistently
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, polished work
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines while balancing multiple assignments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with editors, writers, fact-checkers, and other editorial partners
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to adapt as editorial needs evolve
