About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assign, edit, and top-edit stories for the culture section, including daily news and awards coverage
  • Plan coverage around weekly TV, film, music, and book releases and tentpole pop culture moments
  • Book talent for interviews, video shoots, social opportunities, or other stories
  • Work with print editors for long-lead features or collaborating on online coverage
  • Work with freelancers for evergreen stories, interviews, essays, roundups, and more
  • Work with SEO team to optimize content strategy and plan swarms
  • Develop and maintain PR relationships with celebrity reps, major studios, and labels
  • Attend film events and red carpets for coverage

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of post-grad experience, preferably for a consumer editorial brand
  • Strong editorial judgment and clean writing skills
  • Keen understanding of the brand’s voice
  • Must love spotting the newest voices in culture
  • Proficiency with web platforms (including emerging platforms) and tools (including Google Analytics)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Able to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or other relevant area
