About the role

  • Hearst Magazines is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide critical support in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements. This role is pivotal in assisting with month-end close and annual budgeting activities, preparing and maintaining financial packages, and contributing to ad hoc projects. Successful candidates will possess a strong accounting background, advanced technical skills, and a proven ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Prepare, maintain, and report detailed monthly and yearly financial statements and packages, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Analyze and investigate variances in operating results compared to forecasts, budgets, and prior years
  • Collaborate in the annual budgeting process by compiling and reporting operating results
  • Drive process improvement and leverage technology to automate & streamline accounting and finance functions
  • Partner cross-functionally to develop more efficient systems for financial calculations & consolidation
  • Lead or participate in special projects and provide adhoc analytical support
  • Support operations team in data retrieval, P&L compilation & analysis

Requirements

  • Accounting Degree Required - CPA Preferred
  • 4+ years’ experience
  • Advanced Excel skills required (Macros, pivots, xlookup, vlookup, Index-Match-Match)
  • Oracle Cloud, Smartview/Essbase, or Hyperion experience desired
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work with large data sets and possess data mining skills
  • Willingness to develop technical expertise on accounting software systems
