About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build, maintain, and improve user-facing features using the Svelte SPA, from design handoff through deployment
- Translate product requirements and design mockups into clean, scalable, reusable front-end code
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality features end-to-end
- Contribute to Ruby on Rails backend logic and APIs as needed
- Ensure consistent implementation of design systems and UI standards
- Optimize applications for performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility
- Write maintainable, well-tested front-end code and participate in code reviews
- Incorporate WCAG accessibility best practices into front-end development
- Identify and address technical debt and front-end architecture improvements
- Help set front-end best practices, tooling decisions, and technical standards
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide constructive code review feedback
- Debug and resolve issues across the front end and, when needed, the Rails backend
- Stay current with evolving front-end technologies and apply relevant learnings
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of professional experience as a front-end or full stack developer
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience building SPAs using a modern front-end framework; Svelte experience, or React, Vue, or similar
- Comfortable working with REST APIs
- Some backend experience; Ruby on Rails preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail with a user-first mindset
- Clear communication and ability to work well in cross-functional teams
- Comfortable mentoring others
- Nice to have: Ruby on Rails or similar backend framework experience
- Nice to have: TypeScript experience
- Nice to have: Browser-side analytics experience with Google Tag Manager or Amplitude
- Nice to have: Testing frameworks such as RSpec and Jest
- Nice to have: Accessibility standards and inclusive design exposure
