About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the design of Headway's calendar, scheduling, and messaging experiences
Design availability, booking, rescheduling, Google Calendar OAuth, timezone, conflict, and edge-case flows
Design provider–patient messaging, attachments, and notification/reminder systems
Identify and fix high-value usability issues across scheduling and messaging surfaces
Maintain coherence between scheduling, messaging, client lists, and client profiles in partnership with Product
Talk to providers with research-team support
Contribute scheduling and messaging patterns to the Helix design system
Prototype and stay involved through launch and iteration directly in code using AI tools

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of product design experience
Experience with complex, workflow-heavy product surfaces
Exceptional visual and interaction craft
Strong attention to edge cases and states
Systems-thinking ability for messy, multi-state problems
Ability to use qualitative and quantitative insights to drive decisions
Strong cross-functional partnership with Product Management, Engineering, and Data
Comfortable with AI prototyping tools including Claude Code, Cursor, and MagicPatterns
Experience working directly in code through launch and iteration
Commitment to Headway's mental healthcare mission
Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
Must disclose whether future visa sponsorship will be required
