About the role
- Provide basic breastfeeding education and ongoing support to WIC mothers
- Maintain a caseload and conduct routine follow-ups (in-person, phone, virtual, home, or hospital visits)
- Assist with common breastfeeding concerns and provide encouragement and guidance
- Document all participant interactions accurately and in compliance with program guidelines
- Refer participants to Nutritionists or supervisors when needs exceed scope of role
- Support prenatal classes and breastfeeding support groups
- Connect participants with community resources and services
- Participate in required trainings, meetings, and peer counselor sessions
- Assist with clinic operations, including satellite clinic support as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with all program standards
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Personal experience successfully breastfeeding at least one child (per PA WIC guidelines)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Reliable transportation
- Experience in WIC or a similar community-based role (preferred)
- Familiarity with the PENN Data System (preferred)
- Bilingual (Spanish) (preferred)
