About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and ship features that balance proven UI paradigms with new AI-powered interaction patterns.
- Translate design intent into instructions an agent can build from.
- Iterate in tight loops: reviewing agent output critically, diagnosing why something feels off.
- Build taste into the system by encoding visual and interaction standards into reusable prompts.
- Pressure-test your ideas and refine through collaboration and research.
- Partner with engineering, product management, and design peers on both long-term strategy and short-term execution.
- Care about the full user journey: from the moment a candidate receives an invite through the interviewer's final read-out.
- Manage competing priorities and act decisively in the face of ambiguity.
- Contribute to design and product culture at HackerRank.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of hands-on industry experience as a product designer, with at least 3 years on fast-moving enterprise or consumer products.
- Demonstrated, hands-on fluency with agentic coding tools: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar.
- A portfolio demonstrating excellent visual, UI, and interaction design, ideally including interactive or in-code work.
- Comfort with ambiguity, working independently or across many stakeholders, and balancing established design standards with new paradigms.
- Proven ability to ship high-quality products in a self-directed manner.
