About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide customer service to plan members and/or providers by answering benefit questions, researching and resolving issues and inquiries, and explaining the Company’s products and services
- Act as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors, patients, and referral sources
- Initiate and manage clinical referrals for members
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations when needed
- Enter referrals and document communications, actions, and other data in departmental systems
- Determine contract and benefit eligibility
- Provide authorization for inpatient admission, outpatient certification, and/or prior authorization requests
- Refer cases requiring clinical review to appropriate clinical professionals
- Provide guidance and expertise to less experienced Service Advocates
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2+ years related work experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
- Travel to and from corporate or regional offices may be required
