About the role
- Performance management, professional development, and overall health of a diverse team of 4 engineers distributed across the U.S. and Europe.
- Recruit and onboard new team members.
- Cultivate an inclusive team culture with a respectful and collaborative environment.
- Accountability and development of the roadmap, prioritization and re-prioritization decisions, celebrations, process, and end results of the team in collaboration with the other team leads.
- Define success, setting constraints, highlighting potential trade-offs, and allowing the team to collaborate.
- Build cross-functional relationships by communicating scope, trade-off, timing, uncertainty, and prioritization decisions to direct reports, leadership, and partners.
- Contribute to and advocate for the team through engineering-wide projects.
- Contribute to engineering-wide plans as a member of Wirecutter's engineering management team.
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Requirements
- You have at least two of years of engineering management experience; including setting goals and crafting growth or continuous improvement plans for your team members.
- You have at least two years of experience in building and scaling applications, environments, and software development process.
- You have at least two years of experience leading and facilitating decision making for technical teams.
- You have experience managing or working with distributed, or hybrid, teams.
