GREENZERO

Acquisition Manager, Restoration Areas, Ecological Credits

GREENZERO

Acquisition Manager responsible for securing ecological points in Essen. Working with landowners and developing a reliable supplier network in a hybrid model.

Posted 5/19/2026full-timeEssen • 🇩🇪 GermanyMid-LevelSenior💰 €50,000 - €70,000 per yearWebsite

About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • You are responsible for ensuring we have a sufficient supply of ecological credits/land available.
  • You talk to landowners, build a reliable network of suppliers/owners, and negotiate with partners who develop ecological credits themselves.
  • You will spend the majority of your time engaging with owners — because without land there are no ecological credits.
  • You report directly to executive management.
  • Supplier management: You are the contact person for our existing suppliers, negotiate prices and maintain clean, accurate data in our system.
  • You initiate follow-up tasks — for example, when a customer needs ecological credits that must be calculated using a different valuation method used by a federal state.
  • Acquiring new suppliers: You actively look for suppliers in the regions where our supply is currently insufficient.
  • You approach owners directly — from a farmer with 50 hectares to a family-run operation with several thousand hectares — and build long-term relationships.
  • Building partnerships: You win partners who develop ecological credits themselves — land agencies, planning firms, landscape developers.
  • You negotiate framework agreements and long-term contracts with them for future projects.
  • Strategy input: You help decide when we should develop ecological credits in-house, when to purchase them, and when to cooperate with a partner. For this you would evaluate costs, capital requirements, risk and speed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in land management, real estate (land or agricultural sector), agriculture, forestry or a similar field
  • German fluent in spoken and written form (at least C1)
  • You can communicate with a wide range of landowners on equal terms — from a farmer with 50 hectares to the manager of a family operation with several thousand hectares
  • You work in a structured and thorough manner — you keep data and lists as well organized as you conduct conversations
  • You are hands-on, take initiative, and perform well with little hierarchy and a high level of personal responsibility
  • Experience with ecological credits (Ökopunkte), compensatory areas or land agencies is a plus
  • You bring a network within agriculture and forestry or among larger family-run farms
  • You are familiar with German nature conservation law and the different valuation methods used by the federal states
  • You have previous experience working in a joint company with two partners or in negotiating with business partners
  • English for communication with partners and investors
