About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create, plan, and deliver daily online instruction for assigned courses and grade levels
- Facilitate live virtual classes and guide student learning activities
- Create an online classroom environment promoting curiosity, respect, and academic excellence
- Use online instructional routines, procedures, and strategies to support learning and engagement
- Monitor student participation and academic progress in live and asynchronous platforms
- Provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments
- Support struggling students through small-group instruction, tutoring, and office hours
- Provide accommodations and supports for individual student success
- Encourage strong study habits and intellectual curiosity
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, engagement, and submissions
- Respond to family inquiries professionally and promptly
- Partner with parents to support student learning and accountability
- Evaluate student work and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain timely, accurate grading and records in the learning management system
- Monitor academic performance and analyze assessment data to identify growth areas
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum implementation and instructional improvement
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
- Provide updates for SPED scholars and attend ARD meetings when scheduled
- Work with school leadership to support student success and school culture
- Contribute to school-sponsored clubs, extracurricular programs, competitions, community events, and enrichment activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid teaching certification preferred
- 2–5 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary or lower school education
- Experience working with classical education or liberal arts curriculum preferred
- Experience teaching in online or blended learning environments preferred
- Strong understanding of effective teaching practices for elementary-aged students
- Ability to engage young learners and maintain a structured, supportive learning environment
- Comfort using online learning platforms, video conferencing tools, and digital classroom tools
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies for the virtual learning environment
- Strong ability to build positive relationships with students and families
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Strong commitment to the mission and philosophy of Great Hearts and a passion for classical education
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Must complete Texas and Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance and background check; additional states may be required
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements
- Ability to perform standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching
- May be required to move or position equipment up to 50 pounds approximately
