About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum
Function as a second teacher in the classroom without shouldering all planning, grading/evaluation, and parent communications
Learn the craft of teaching through mentorship with a Master Teacher in a classical liberal arts primary-school environment
Support and advance the mission of Great Hearts by contributing to a respectful, intellectually vibrant school community
Collaborate with teachers to support instruction, student learning, and daily classroom activities
Uphold school policies and promote an orderly, professional learning environment
Participate in faculty meetings, school events, conferences, and assigned duties
Pursue ongoing professional growth and deepen knowledge of the classical tradition
May travel locally for training and professional development opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience working with students
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Interest in reading great books
Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Some locations may require an AA, 60 hours of college credit, or passing a ParaPro proficiency exam before beginning work
US work authorization required; OPT/CPT candidates accepted
Successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance required
Ability to perform standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching
May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds
Local travel may be required for training and professional development
