About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create, plan, and deliver daily online instruction for assigned courses and grade levels
- Facilitate live virtual classes and guide student learning activities
- Create an online classroom environment promoting curiosity, respect, and academic excellence
- Use online instructional routines, procedures, and strategies to support learning and engagement
- Monitor student participation and academic progress in live and asynchronous platforms
- Provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments
- Support struggling students through small-group instruction, tutoring, and office hours
- Encourage strong study habits and intellectual curiosity
- Communicate with families about student progress, engagement, and submissions
- Respond to family inquiries and partner with parents to support learning and accountability
- Evaluate student work and maintain timely, accurate grading and records in the learning management system
- Monitor academic performance and analyze assessment data to identify growth areas
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum implementation and instructional improvement
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
- Provide updates for SPED scholars and attend ARD meetings when scheduled
- Work with school leadership to support student success and school culture
- Contribute to school-sponsored clubs, extracurricular programs, academic competitions, community events, and enrichment opportunities
- Travel locally as needed for training and professional development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2–5 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary or lower school education
- Valid teaching certification preferred
- Experience with classical education or liberal arts curriculum preferred
- Experience teaching in online or blended learning environments preferred
- Strong understanding of effective teaching practices for elementary-aged students
- Ability to engage young learners and maintain a structured, supportive learning environment
- Comfort using online learning platforms, video conferencing tools, and digital classroom tools
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies for virtual learning
- Strong ability to build positive relationships with students and families
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Strong commitment to Great Hearts’ mission and philosophy and passion for classical education
- Strong work ethic and high level of professionalism
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Must complete Texas and Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance and background check; additional states may be required
- Employment contingent upon successful criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance
- Ability to perform required physical functions, including standing, sitting, repetitive movements, bending, squatting, and reaching
- May need to move or position equipment up to approximately 50 pounds
