About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support students in small groups or 1:1 settings
- Assist students with assignments, homework, and projects
- Adapt materials and provide modifications to help students learn
- Help students understand and follow classroom rules
- Monitor student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions
- Implement behavior management strategies
- Support students in developing social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviors
- Assist with de-escalating student behaviors and request support as needed
- Reinforce SDI concepts already in effect
- Help students with transitions and activities
- Support personal hygiene needs including toileting, feeding, and dressing
- Support mobility and adaptive equipment
- Provide general clerical support for the ESS Team
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Help maintain a clean and organized work area
- Provide a supportive and positive learning environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school degree or higher required
- Experience in special education
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Interest in reading great books
- US work authorization required
- Successful criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance required
- Ability to perform standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching
- Ability to move or position equipment up to approximately 15 pounds
- Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred
- Associate's degree or higher preferred
