About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive requirements gathering, component evaluation and testing, development, rollout, and monitoring of networking infrastructure connecting robots
- Own the network architecture across the on-machine network, worksite network, and site backhaul
- Build networks connecting sensors to compute nodes, robots to robots, worksites, and global cloud systems via satellite links
- Support and maintain field deployments with specialized networking needs and customer integrations
- Secure product-related network activity using state-of-the-art security mechanisms
- Shape Linux-level routing configuration for Policy-Based Routing, prioritizing traffic and ensuring reliability in multi-WAN environments
- Collaborate across Hardware, Perception, and Platform teams to ensure reliable, fast data delivery to heavy construction robots
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar roles
- Proven experience owning the network stack in a product end-to-end
- Experience architecting networks with strict timing and synchronization requirements for aligning sensor data, such as PTP
- Proven experience dimensioning, configuring, and deploying in-product network architectures
- Proven experience with infrastructure as code, such as Ansible, Terraform, or Nix/NixOS
- Strong Software Engineering skills and related tooling, such as clangd, cargo, or pyrefly (bonus)
- Experience with monitoring and observability tooling, such as Grafana or Prometheus (bonus)
- Hands-on experience with containerization, such as Docker or Podman (bonus)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure (bonus)
- Experience working with high-bandwidth, low-latency robotics data, including camera streams, point clouds, and timeseries data (bonus)
- Experience with robotics and DevOps tooling, such as Foxglove, Prometheus, and Grafana (bonus)
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing setups (bonus)
- Regulatory and spectrum management experience for deployment around the world (bonus)
