About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Influence the roadmap and personal career objectives
Work with the team to deliver new features and iteratively improve them
Drive projects from initial idea through operations after customer release
Contribute to open-source projects beyond the team’s direct scope
Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning reliability, performance, and availability
Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and own operated services
Support team members, participate in design discussions, and collaborate with the team
Develop understanding of Grafana Cloud, customers, and a large distributed-system codebase
Write and review pull requests and design documents
Shepherd automated release rollouts
Optimize the efficiency and resilience of processing, storing, and querying metrics at scale

Requirements

What you’ll need

Candidates in USA time zones
Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, with Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar accepted
Experience leading and delivering projects from requirements gathering through customer delivery
Experience developing cloud software or systems engineering
Experience with on-call and the DevOps model
Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software
Familiarity with observability systems and using metrics, logs, and traces for debugging
Comfort with microservices architecture and distributed systems
Experience and comfort developing with LLMs such as Claude and Codex
Pragmatic, self-driven, customer-focused approach with strong time management
Good communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote setup
Bonus: Kubernetes experience
Bonus: queue systems such as Kafka protocol
Bonus: Grafana and Prometheus operational experience
Bonus: infrastructure as code familiarity
