About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain pricing and underwriting tools, including policy rating models and a large account pricing tool
- Provide strategic pricing insights and recommendations for pricing strategies and portfolio management
- Analyze ultimate loss ratio, frequency and severity loss trends, sold to manual ratio, and other performance metrics
- Partner with underwriting and product development to analyze and enhance risk selection criteria, policy terms, and rating variables
- Automate the ratemaking process and actuarial reporting
- Communicate complex actuarial concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Lead special projects and perform additional duties as requested
- Perform pricing for large accounts, excess and non-admitted business
- Perform reinsurance pricing and reserving estimation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field required
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience specialized in the actuarial field required
- ACAS designation required
- FCAS designation preferred
- Proficient in Excel (VBA), PowerPoint, Word, and SQL or other programming languages such as R and Python required
- Working knowledge of PowerBI or Tableau preferred
- Strong ability to quickly learn new programming languages or software
- Strong ability to resolve problems and develop action plans
