About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage internal and vendor loss control resources, ensuring the effective evaluation of property and casualty hazards and controls for current and prospective policyholders, dedicating no less than 50% of own time to completing Loss Control inspections.
  • Interpret data for branch book of business to:
  • - Identify account service opportunities
  • - Policyholder and agent/broker loss control resource needs
  • Deliver the GNY Loss Control value proposition through impactful policyholder service.
  • - Produce loss analyses for service accounts to determine directional focus
  • - Develop service proposals which include the collection of qualitative data
  • - Achieve customer buy-in and execute service plans thoroughly
  • - Measure and translate outcomes
  • Collaborate with and support branch management and underwriters in:
  • - New business acquisition through direct agent/broker and client engagements including but not limited to:
  • - Speaking engagements at broker, GNY and association hosted events
  • - Development and presentation of policyholder service strategies
  • - Coordination of renewal underwriting surveys and recommendation follow-up
  • Develop loss control guidance documents, evaluation tools and supplemental forms to support underwriting decision making and the GNY Loss Control value proposition.
  • Support the development of internal technical knowledge in assigned office.
  • Pursue professional development of skills, knowledge and abilities to include pursuit of designations and industry knowledge.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, engineering, safety, or risk management OR Associate in Risk Management designation required.
  • 10 years experience evaluating property and casualty risks required
  • Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities in a manner that achieves customer buy-in and recommendation compliance.
  • Possess familiarity with local and national building and fire codes.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Professional attitude and superior people skills.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle with valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders to investigate properties.
