About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead creation of hyper-local news content across digital, audio, and social platforms
- Attend meetings, conduct interviews, and build sources to verify information for accurate reporting
- Research, write, and publish news content using AI-assisted workflows
- Create and distribute short-form video and audio content utilizing AI tools
- Adapt stories into multiple formats to expand audience engagement
- Monitor incoming information and identify story opportunities
- Apply editorial judgment to review and validate AI-assisted content
- Learn and apply new tools to improve efficiency and storytelling
- Support timely coverage by monitoring news tips and emerging stories
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong interest in local journalism and community storytelling
- Digital-first mindset with the ability to create content across multiple platforms
- Demonstrated ability or strong interest in using AI tools to support reporting and content creation
- Ability to apply critical thinking and editorial judgment when working with AI-assisted content
- Comfort on camera and/or willingness to develop a multimedia presence
- Ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment without sacrificing accuracy
- Self-starter mindset with strong accountability and follow-through
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teammates and departments
- Valid driver’s license
