About the role
- Regional insurance defense law firm with offices in Manhattan, North Jersey, and Pennsylvania
- Seeking an experienced civil litigation attorney to join New York Automotive and Trucking Negligence department
- Position is hybrid/remote
- Handle motor vehicle negligence and general liability claims
- Manage junior attorneys and staff
- Draft pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and other case related documents
- Communicate with clients, insurance contacts, and opposing counsel
- Identify, research, and analyze legal issues
- Take and defend depositions, handle arbitrations, and argue motions
- Attend in-person and virtual court appearances
- Analyze and summarize medical and case records
- Write reports to clients and explain litigation processes
- Move cases toward cost effective, efficient, and fair resolutions
- Juggle multiple assignments and deadlines
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in civil litigation with a specialization in either motor vehicle negligence and/or general liability
- Experience handling depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other complex assignments
- Experience in handling a full caseload
- Experience in managing junior attorneys and/or staff
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to work with attorneys, partners, staff, clients, opposing counsel, and the court system
