About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide accurate translation, editing of documents, and/or transcription of audio files involving law enforcement and legal subject matter from English to Turkish
- If applicable, edit audio transcriptions that include slang and idioms
- Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong command of legal terminology in both English and the target language
- Excellent written communication skills in English and the target foreign language, with Advanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign target language, as assessed by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale
- Translate, edit, and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards
- Use domain-specific terminology
- Review and certify other translators’ work quality, as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience in legal documentation, translating, and/or editing between English and a foreign language
- If applicable, at least 1 year of experience performing audio transcription with the ability to use software to enhance sound and equipment to aid in transcription
- Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the target foreign language(s)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Translators and editors must proficiently use CAT tools, such as Trados
