About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Represent Gilead’s oncology products and services to a defined customer base within the Southern California region
  • Generate and grow sales while consistently achieving or exceeding regional sales targets
  • Lead the SoCal region from Greater Los Angeles to San Diego
  • Develop and maintain relationships with executives, decision influencers, and decision-makers at medical centers, clinics, and other accounts
  • Track and reinforce sales force effectiveness measures at the regional level
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects with National Accounts, Marketing, Medical Scientists, and internal teams
  • Analyze and present scientific and technical information and market data
  • Share product and disease-state developments, including product protocol considerations
  • Counsel and coach the sales team to improve selling skills, product and disease-state knowledge, customer focus, time management, and resource allocation
  • Recruit, hire, and manage a team of specialists
  • Create learning plans, recommend training and development solutions, and provide mentoring and coaching
  • Serve as liaison between the home office and region, identifying and resolving issues, opportunities, and competitive activities
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and measurable outcomes for the specialist team; measure success and provide performance feedback
  • Represent the company at professional events and promote company products
  • Analyze industry trends, competitor resources, and practices
  • Lead cross-functional projects with broad organizational impact
  • Manage successful product launches and/or product turnarounds
  • Ensure department personnel comply with Gilead commercial compliance policy and applicable pharmaceutical laws and guidance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Degree and Sixteen Years' Experience OR Associates Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years' Experience OR Masters' Degree and Ten Years' Experience OR Ph.D. and Eight Years' Experience
  • Minimum eight years of experience required under the stated education/experience alternatives
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to travel regularly within the assigned area
  • Ability to satisfy healthcare practitioner onsite visitation requirements, including possible vaccinations, drug screenings, and background screenings
  • 12 years of relevant commercial experience in marketing, sales, or related commercial function preferred
  • 8 years of progressive oncology experience preferred
  • 4 years of oncology leadership as a District Manager, including product launches, preferred
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, mentoring, strategic thinking, and change leadership skills
  • Ability to formulate, develop, and execute strategy and manage teams with varying product prioritization
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict-resolution, consensus-building, influencing, negotiating, oral, and written communication skills
  • Executive presence and sound business judgment
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing and sales regulations, guidelines, and policies
  • Knowledge of the medical field and pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience managing product launches and/or product turnarounds
