About the role
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
- Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
- Assist with the annual audit and the tax preparation processes
- Allocate partnership income and expenses
- Intra-company allocations and transfers
- Maintain capital account balances and records for many limited partnerships
- Payroll and Payable allocation and processing
- Expense reimbursement and credit card charge allocation
- Cash management and banking relationship management
- Manage incoming and outgoing domestic and international wires
- Lead monthly close process to issue timely (monthly, quarterly, annual) and complete financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Monitor and assess internal processes to improve efficiency, automation, and accuracy of financial management and systems
- Assist with external audits and completion of the company's tax filings
- Facilitate accounting initiatives, perform financial analyses and special projects
- Report to the VP of Finance; position located in Duluth, GA or Tysons Corner, VA
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance required
- Solid accounting and SOX knowledge
- Thorough understanding of GAAP, Internal Controls, Operation Risk Assessment, and Financial Reporting
- Current or previous "Big 4" background strongly preferred
- 3–5 years of experience as an Assistant Controller or Controller
- Experience with Deltek and cost point strongly preferred
- Manufacturing Industry experience
- Solid knowledge of Manufacturing Cost Accounting
- Knowledge of Government Accounting and working with Federal contracts
- Knowledge of Corp. Income Tax
- Solid Analytical skills - ability to assimilate financial information and draw solid and accurate business conclusions
- Strong Leadership Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship (WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE)
