About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monthly reviewing and/or posting of journal entries in the month end process for the NZ Pacific business
- Maintaining the general ledger and preparing reconciliations and working papers
- Responsible for statutory accounting and compliance requirements for the NZ Pacific business including group reporting package, local financial statements and audit-related activities.
- Managing cashflow forecast, and ad hoc bank payments.
- Preparing payroll-related journals and provisions to ensuring appropriate accounting treatment, reconciliation, and confidentiality.
- Partnering with tax team to provide information on various New Zealand tax compliance matters.
- Partnering with Finance and business stakeholders to provide timely information, resolve issues, and support effective decision making.
- Contributing to process improvements, standardisation, and the implementation of the GHD way of working in alignment with global policy.
- Maintaining strong documentation, control discipline, and adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Supporting a high-performing Finance environment through collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5 years of relevant finance or accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree with an accounting major or equivalent relevant qualification.
- CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification (or working towards completion) would be highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, statutory accounting, financial controls, and reconciliation processes with financial statement preparation experience
- Experience supporting cashflow, banking, payroll-related finance activities, and audit requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems and reporting tools. Experience with TM1 and BI reporting tools would be highly regarded
- Knowledge of New Zealand tax and local compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage deadlines in a busy environment.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across Finance and operational teams.
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to improve processes and maintain strong control standards.
- Strong adherence to professional ethics, confidentiality, and compliance requirements.
