About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee tunnel projects in the rail, transportation and water sectors at GHD.
- Support other tunnel projects in Canada or internationally as opportunities arise.
- Participate in large-scale projects in the transportation, energy and water markets.
- Design engineering solutions for tunnels in rock and in soft ground.
- Deliver design–build projects in public–private partnership (PPP) arrangements.
- Manage design consulting projects to meet schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate with design and construction teams.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 15 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years on underground and tunnel projects.
- Registered member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. Recognition/licensure as a professional engineer in other Canadian provinces and in the United States is an asset.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to provide technical leadership on medium- to large-scale tunnel projects in railway and transportation engineering.
- Experience in a construction company or engineering consultancy with a commercial mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed client and partner expectations, and to deliver on organizational commitments and deliverables.
- Flexibility and resilience when addressing complex problems, and the ability to apply reliable methods to resolve them.
- Experience in tunnel construction using tunnel boring machines (TBMs) and precast linings.
- Excellent communication skills in French and English.
- Hold an ASP card.
- Have access to a vehicle at all times and hold a valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical, geological engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree in engineering with a specialization in tunnel/structural engineering, soil/rock–structure interaction and/or geostructural design is an asset.
