About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Recruit prospective students through high schools, community colleges, community events, classroom and community presentations, virtual fairs, and college fairs within a designated geography-based territory
- Review applications, essays, scores, and other applicant materials to make admissions decisions or recommendations
- Create and maintain professional relationships with school counselors, advisors, and other college-selection stakeholders
- Serve as the primary contact for prospective students, families, counselors, advisors, and related organizations
- Maintain contact with prospective students through appointments, telephone, email, text, social media, and video/virtual chat
- Lead campus tours and conduct informational sessions and prospective student interviews
- Attend and assist with coordinating recruitment functions, including phone-a-thons, counselor workshops, information sessions, and open houses
- Identify and attend professional development seminars and conferences and present information to enrollment staff
- Represent the office on University committees as needed
- Integrate the University’s core values of respect, compassion, integrity, justice, and service in all interactions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- 1 year of experience as an Admissions Counselor or related experience
- Valid driver's license from the state of residency
- Ability and willingness to travel in and out of state
- Availability and willingness to work evenings and weekend hours
- Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, students, and the general public
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
- Ability to work independently, completing work in a thorough and timely manner and balancing competing demands with courtesy and tact
- Excellent professional demeanor
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office
- Must be US Work Authorized
