About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with the CEO as Generation Citizen scales its impact
  • Work collaboratively across the Management Team to resolve or mitigate operational and strategic issues affecting priority goals
  • Serve as the CEO’s strategic observer and primary point of contact
  • Establish systems for tracking, monitoring, and accountability toward annual goals and strategic priorities
  • Support professional development and cross-functional leadership development with the Talent team
  • Manage Leadership Team meetings, calendars, content, alignment, communication, and outcomes
  • Improve organizational accountability, goal check-ins, cross-team collaboration, and internal communications
  • Foster belonging, transparency, and excellence across national and regional teams
  • Oversee cross-functional special projects and resource allocation
  • Lead project kickoffs, track timelines, and support strategic initiatives on the CEO’s behalf
  • Serve as a confidential sounding board and thought partner to the CEO
  • Lead preparation and strategic framing for Board and Leadership meetings
  • Own the strategic cadence of Board and Committee interactions, materials, and agendas
  • Manage the part-time Executive Assistant and executive office activities
  • Lead virtual and in-person leadership retreats and meetings
  • Represent Generation Citizen at selected meetings, convenings, and events as delegated by the CEO

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Seven (7) years of recent related experience in leadership and project management
  • Experience such as Chief of Staff or COO of a multi-site/matrixed nonprofit
  • Measurable ability to build solid and sustainable relationships across all organizational levels
  • Exceptional attention to detail and interest in sustainable systems and processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism with diverse stakeholders and give and receive direct, supportive feedback
  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver results individually and collaboratively
  • Empathetic listening, inspiring leadership, and strong relationship-building skills
  • Skilled in strengths-based storytelling focused on elevating youth voices
  • Deep commitment to Generation Citizen’s mission
  • Personal and professional track record advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in policy, advocacy, and fundraising
  • Strong ability to use technologies and platforms such as Zoom and Google Workspace
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, including limited overnight travel
