About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, deployment, and operation of ElasticSearch / OpenSearch clusters in a proof-of-concept environment
- Integration of these platforms on Kubernetes, using operators or Helm deployments
- Definition of cluster topologies, replication strategies, partitioning, and index lifecycle management
- Conducting load tests, performance benchmarks, and tuning recommendations
- Defining backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures using S3-compatible object storage
- Leading a proof of concept around Apache Iceberg as a table format for the data lake
- Evaluating catalog solutions, query engines, and partitioning and schema evolution strategies
- Automating provisioning of infrastructure components and the deployment pipeline
- Implementing observability solutions (metrics, logs, dashboards)
- Writing technical documentation, experiment reports, and knowledge transfer to project teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven experience operating ElasticSearch or OpenSearch clusters in production or similar environments
- Good knowledge of Apache Iceberg, its catalog model, and integration with analytical engines
- Proficiency with Ansible for infrastructure automation and deployments
- Experience deploying and operating stateful workloads on Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, object storage, and performance considerations
- Expected qualities: technical curiosity and autonomy
- Analytical ability and pragmatic mindset
- Strong writing skills and ability to formalize
- Ability to work in a team with multiple stakeholders
