About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment projects
  • Review project documents, plans, specifications, and addenda completely and accurately
  • Analyzing and compiling estimate data that impacts the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location, and other factors
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals
  • Developing and maintaining business relationships with small businesses, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Provide input on value engineering
  • Ability to provide conceptual estimates from limited information with assumptions and clarifications
  • Preparing contingency and risk analysis for the estimate and pre-review
  • Communicating estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure understanding of the scope of the job and critical means and methods of construction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of construction estimating experience
  • Preferred but not required: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, business administration, or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings and understanding specifications
  • Must be able to review take-off quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates and review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions
  • Motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills and experience working in collaborative environments
