About the role
- Lead multiple projects and/or programs across the full delivery lifecycle, from initiation through implementation and stabilization.
- Apply stage-gate governance to ensure readiness reviews, approvals, and quality checks are completed before advancing to subsequent phases.
- Manage complex, cross-functional delivery teams supporting Medicaid systems, enhancements, and regulatory initiatives.
- Partner directly with state clients and internal business leaders to plan, prioritize, and deliver system changes.
- Coordinate delivery across multiple workstreams, vendors, and functional teams.
- Provide project leadership by assigning resources, mentoring team members, and serving as an escalation point.
- Identify, track, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies across assigned initiatives.
- Monitor delivery performance against contractual commitments, SLAs, and regulatory timelines.
- Support capacity planning and workload balancing across projects, defects, and ongoing system support.
- Collaborate with peer project managers to align resources and delivery priorities across the program.
- Escalate delivery, resourcing, or system risks to leadership with clear recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of project and/or program management experience
- Experience managing projects using Waterfall methodology with stage-gated delivery checkpoints (required); Agile or hybrid experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in a client-facing environment
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders simultaneously
- Experience working within client/vendor delivery models
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project; MS Project Online (MSPO) experience preferred
