About the role

  • Planning, technical design, development, configuration and maintenance of IT applications, particularly in the area of life insurance policy systems
  • Reviewing and analyzing requirements and change requests for IT applications
  • Developing software implementation plans and coordinating them with relevant stakeholders
  • Designing and modelling IT functions and configuring the corresponding IT applications
  • Programming and documenting software solutions in the OpenEdge environment according to requirements and integrating them into existing IT application architectures
  • Designing test scenarios and test cases to ensure software quality
  • Setting up test infrastructure and executing tests
  • Documenting test results and managing incidents/defects
  • Maintaining and optimizing IT applications and existing systems in a client/server environment (Windows, Unix)
  • Coordinating with external vendors
  • Supporting IT projects and initiatives

Requirements

  • University degree in Information Technology (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) with a focus on Software Engineering
  • 2–4 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer / IT Developer
  • Experience with relational databases; Progress/OpenEdge knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in at least one modern programming language/development environment (e.g., C#, C++, Java, VB; experience with 4GL systems is an advantage)
  • Experience in Windows environments (Windows 10, Citrix); Unix/Linux experience is a plus
  • Fluent in German and very good command of English; French would be an important asset
  • Positive attitude, reliable, dynamic, detail-oriented and well organized, able to work effectively, rigorously and autonomously with a systematic, methodical approach
